Education Minister, Bronwyn Pike, Visits Parktone

Minister’s Visit

We were so fortunate to have the Honourable Bronwyn Pike Minister for Education visit our school. The Minister was welcomed at assembly and a number of children presented her with cards, letters and artwork. Our school captains Tess and Zac gave flowers on behalf of Parktone Primary School. The Minister’s reason for visiting was to see first-hand how we have transformed traditional classroom areas into stimulating and technology rich spaces. The Minister was impressed with the Prep and Senior School Learning Centres and enjoyed viewing the Prep E movie. She expressed her excitement about the technology and the digital programs we are embracing in our day-to-day teaching and learning. It was a great experience for our school community and a day I will always remember.

Janice Munt our local member of parliament initiated the Minister’s visit. Janice officially opened our Prep Learning Centre last year and spoke highly of Parktone Primary School in parliament. Janice Munt has worked closely with all the schools in our area and has been proactive and instrumental in securing an additional $500,000 for our school’s refurbishment through the Better School’s Today Grant. Janice has attended many school events and we are truly grateful for her commitment and ongoing support.

Funding Allocation

The Minister, Janice and the Education Department have worked together to ensure that Parktone Primary would receive a substantial funding allocation. Through the Better Schools Today, National School Pride and the Building Education Revolution grants Parktone Primary with receive $1,425,000 over the coming months. This is an amazing contribution which will see our entire school redesigned into four state-of-the-art learning centres. Never before has such funding been allocated to Parktone Primary School. It was such a privilege to be able to thank the Minister in person.
